Recreation
The town’s recreation department offers an abundance of athletic and leisure activities, such as fishing, swimming and boating, and fitness programs. The town also has many health and wellness businesses, spas, and support services or businesses.There are many opportunities for both young and old, singles and families.
There is the Boys & Girls Club in the center of town to playgrounds, lakes, fields and sporting organizations. Ridgefield’s excellent natural terrain includes 5,200 acres of open space under various jurisdictions, representing one quarter of the town’s total area.
Weir Farm National Historic Site, the only National Park Service property in Connecticut, preserves the farm of J. Alden Weir, a painter of American Impressionism style. The site includes an art center and gallery. A skating center features open skating sessions, figure skating lessons and league hockey. Ridgefield Golf Course is 18-hole regulation length golf for a fun, but challenging golfing experience. There are many things to see and do in Ridgefield for people of all ages and with a diverse group of interests.
